Mediterranean Footsteps
At the beginning water covered most of what we call dry lands today. During centuries many landscapes surfaced whereas some others vanished underneath the water blanket again. The
Mediterranean Sea was once covering way more lands than today. Its waters and coast lines cradled cultures and interactions among many peoples. They in turn interacted with many cultures outside the realm of the Mediterranean influence. A sea, which seems to be shrinking more and more, has seen the changing circumstances of its people and the rise and fall of empires. With it evolved Mythologies which impacted lives and narratives on their own.
The series Mediterranean Footsteps contain the landscape of water and its Mediterranean colors, a window in the sky and in the past, artefacts from boat travels to the sunken Hellenistic culture ,
mythology of Zeus and Europe and botanic iconography that calls to mind the landscapes of the lands around the Mediterranean – the cedar and the olive tree.
The works are photo collages on fine art paper prints, limited edition 1-8 - 50 x 70, 60x 80 with passe-partouts, 2018
